There is more water on the moon than expected

Is there really a lot of water on the moon? It is speculated that water is "secreted" in the form of ice in the deep cold craters in the shadows near the poles of the moon.

Regarding this statement, two studies published in "Nature-Astronomy" on October 27 gave evidence that there are really dark craters in the moon's polar regions, covering an area of nearly 40,000 square kilometers. Moreover, the researchers also found traces of water in places other than the surface of the moon.

According to Science, this is good news for NASA, which plans to send astronauts to the moon in 2024, because the presence of water makes the moon more likely to be an outpost for humans to explore Mars.

The role of lunar water is not limited to drinking. Water can be broken down into hydrogen and oxygen(replica hermes) to produce rocket fuel and provide energy for human breathing.

The cost of transporting water from the earth to the moon is high, and once the water supply on the moon's surface is solved, these problems will also be solved.

Around 2008, humans discovered traces of water on the moon. In order to further ascertain the water reserves of the moon, planetary scientist Paul Hayne of the University of Colorado at Boulder and his colleagues made a series of estimates and determined that the water in the permanent shadow polar regions whose temperature is kept at minus 163°C may come from meteorites, comets and Other objects that have hit the moon.

Most of the water will evaporate, but some will pass through the sparse atmosphere to reach the dark corners of the moon and deposit like frost on the cold rocks and soil.

Hayne et al. also analyzed high-resolution lunar images, from craters to craters, to get a more accurate shadow area. They pointed out that 60% of these regions are located in the southern hemisphere of the moon.

Another study provides more accurate evidence for the existence of water on the moon. Casey Honniball of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and others used the Stratospheric Infrared Astronomical Observatory (SOFIA) to find water on the sun-irradiated surface of the moon for the first time.

This discovery suggests that water may be distributed over the entire lunar surface, not just in cold, shaded areas.

SOFIA detected water molecules(hermes wallets on sale) in the Cravius crater in the southern hemisphere of the moon, which is one of the largest volcanoes on the moon visible from the earth. The detection data showed that water was "trapped" in the soil distributed on the surface of the moon, with a concentration of 100 to 412 parts per million.

NASA said that these findings not only help NASA decide where to send astronauts, but also reduce the payload and carry more scientific equipment into space.
